Expanding discovery beyond a well-known brand name
How a fintech company grew discovery for non-branded questions by connecting technical content, authority, and market positioning.

Non-branded AI discovery
Challenge
Northledger was well known to people already familiar with the brand, but it had limited visibility when prospects explored the broader fintech category. AI platforms understood the company name yet lacked enough independent context to recommend it for non-branded questions involving financial operations and decision support.
The site contained strong technical material, but it was organized around product terminology rather than the problems buyers described. External coverage was also concentrated around company news, leaving fewer trusted signals connecting Northledger to the category themes it wanted to own.
Approach
We identified the non-branded questions shaping category discovery and measured which companies, sources, and claims appeared most consistently. That research revealed a set of topics where Northledger had genuine expertise but insufficiently connected evidence.
We reorganized technical content around buyer problems, introduced clearer category and entity relationships, and developed authoritative resources that combined product knowledge with market education. An expert-led outreach program secured relevant mentions and citations, reinforcing the same themes across the website and trusted third-party sources.
Results
Non-branded AI discovery increased by 87% and Northledger’s category share of voice grew by 41%. The brand began appearing more frequently in recommendation, comparison, and problem-led prompts, expanding discovery beyond people who already knew its name.
The strategy also improved alignment across marketing, product, and communications. Instead of publishing isolated pieces, the team could invest in a smaller number of connected themes and measure whether those themes were earning recognition across both owned content and external sources.
We now understand which questions shape the market and how to earn visibility through genuine expertise rather than publishing more of the same content.
